Over the last 12 months, we have significantly expanded our philanthropic efforts, actively supporting various charities that have contributed considerably to multiple sectors. From marine conservation to enriching the lives of children facing severe health challenges, our initiatives have transcended traditional business goals, firmly embedding philanthropy into

our operational ethos.

Honouring Nelson Mandela Day: Surfers NOT Street Children

In 2023 we partnered with Surfers NOT Street Children for Nelson Mandela Day, empowering street children through surfing and mentorship. This initiative allowed the community to engage and contribute directly, supporting the uplifting of children in need.

Mental Health Awareness: Waves of Change

In October, during Mental Health Awareness Month, we focused on supporting Waves for Change. This unique organisation uses surf therapy to aid mental health in under-resourced communities. Our Vovo Telo screen and Totems at the V&A Waterfront became beacons of hope, offering QR codes that unlocked the potential for donations. This initiative was about crafting a brighter path not just for brands, but for communities, emphasising the importance of mental well-being for every child.

Conservation at the Core: Save a Fishie, The Litterboom Project, and The Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation

Our commitment to environmental stewardship was highlighted through our partnerships aimed at preserving marine life and cleaning our beaches. With Save a Fishie, founded by Zoë Prinsloo, who has been instrumental in over 270 beach clean-ups, collecting more than 20 tonnes of litter and setting a world record for the longest beach clean-up lasting 27 hours.

Our ongoing support for The Litterboom Project NPC focused on innovative pollution reduction through the “Source to Sea” model.

Additionally, our collaboration with the Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation involved engaging visitors through interactive displays and digital screens at the V&A Waterfront, transforming simple gestures into meaningful contributions for marine education and the protection of endangered sea turtles.

By strategically placing QR codes on our advertising platforms at the V&A Waterfront, we engaged the public in our mission to protect the environment.

Bringing Hope: Reach for a Dream Foundation

Our partnership with the Reach for a Dream Foundation, which turns the dreams of children with life-threatening illnesses into realities, celebrates 35 years of providing magical experiences that alleviate the hardships of illness. Our advertising platforms brought their stories to the forefront, encouraging community support for their mission.

Global Research Support: Red Bull Wings for Life World Run

We also supported the Red Bull Wings for Life World Run, a global initiative funding spinal cord injury research. Our promotional efforts helped increase awareness and funding for critical research projects aimed at finding a cure.

Local Heroism: National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI)

Supporting local heroes, we highlighted the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI), a volunteer organisation dedicated to water safety and rescue operations. Our campaigns emphasised their innovative drowning prevention initiatives, including survival swimming programmes and the Pink Rescue Buoy initiative.

Building Libraries and Futures: SHOUT

This year, we’ve joined forces with SHOUT, an inspiring organisation dedicated to building and stocking libraries in rural communities that lack essential reading and learning resources. SHOUT raises funds for these libraries and sends educators to measure literacy rates and track educational progress. For investors and sponsors, SHOUT monitors the impact studies of each library, showcasing the significant value these resources bring to the communities they serve. “Libraries don’t only hold books, they hold dreams, hopes, and imaginations,” at SHOUT, the mission is clear – to increase literacy rates and empower children with the tools they need for a successful life, breaking free from the cycles of poverty and crime. With every book provided, children climb the ladder towards their dreams.

Over the past year, we have been a leader in innovative advertising and also a champion of integrating charitable causes into our core activities.
